The Humble Independent School District began in 1884 as Harris County Common School District No. 28. The district eventually split into two districts (District No. 28 and District No. 50), before being rejoined as District No. 50 in 1918. In 1919, the Texas Legislature transformed District No. 50 into the Humble Independent School District in 1919.

Humble Museum Executive Director researched the history of Humble ISD and built a massive website for the school district for the Centennial celebration during the 2018-2019 school year.
